NEED
OF COMMUNICATION
Communication is a human
process that binds people globally. Individuals do not like to live in
isolation. They try to communicate their emotions, feelings and information.
Communication is a part and parcel of human life. Hence, we need to communicate
by this or that purpose.
Need of communication can be studied as
below:
1) To Give Information: One of the basic
needs of communication is to provide or give information to others. A
businessman provides information about various developments within the
organization. He provides information about the culture, rules and regulations
of organization.
2) To Express Emotions: Communication
is needed to express our emotions and feelings like courage or fear, joy or
sorrow, satisfaction or disappointment.
3) To Seek Information: Communication is
also needed to seek information from others. If a person wants to know something
or some information, he needs to ask others for that and for this, he needs to
communicate with others.
4) To Persuade: Communication is
also needed to persuade or convince others. Persuasion is an act of changing
one’s attitudes, thoughts and feelings. In business world, we cannot force the
employees to do something. So it is better to persuade them by telling them the
benefits.
5) Image Building: A company or
business cannot survive without building image in the society. It is through proper,
effective and successful communication that accompany or business builds
goodwill and positive image in the society. Communication activities such as
advertising, sponsoring public events can help a company project their image to
the public.
6) Effective Planning and
Management:
Communication
helps a lot in the planning and management of a company. Company carries out
various activities. Communication is an important and effective tool in the
management and co-ordination of these activities to achieve common goal.
7) Staying in Touch with
Others:
A
company for its growth and expansion must communicate regularly with business
associates such as customers, agencies, market world, experts, etc. For this,
one needs to communicate both orally and in writing depending on the need and
the occasion.
