EMERGENCE/IMPORTANCE OF COMMUNICATION AS A KEY CONCEPT IN THE
CORPORATE AND GLOBAL WORLD
Business has
become highly complex and competitive in the 21st century. For
survival, one needs specialists in every field and especially in the field of
communication.
Speed
and efficiency
have become the hallmark of communication in the corporate and global world.
Communicative devices have to fault-free and state-of-the art, while their
users have to be trained and updated according to emerging trends. In fact
while recruiting employees, Human Resource Managers look primarily at their
communicative ability alongside their technical skill.
Regular
training and exposure to communicative devices enable
employees to upgrade their talent for communication. In the corporate
environment, the good communicator immediately creates an impact whereas the unskilled
communicator is sidelined despite higher education or high technical
competence. Promotion and career advancement are often linked also with
excellence in communication.
Communication
does not only mean speaking or writing, but also the
use of appropriate technical and other devices. The good business
manager knows the technique of how to balance a combination of these methods
and devices according to their applicability. If does not, he hires consultants
or outsources.
To create a mark
on the global corporate world, the business person must have excellent knowledge of communication devices and their application.
Some of these devices are traditional, as in letters, reports, memos,
agreements, proposals and blueprints. However, most of even the traditional
devices are technology enabled: the computer and the word processor have
replaced traditional forms of writing and typing. Even formats for bio-data,
agreements, letters and software for drafts and blueprints are available; the
business person has only to learn to use the technology for improving his
skills. There are other technological devices that play a supportive role to
traditional methods, like fax, e-mail, telephone and its cellular, video,
satellite and other versions, search engines like Google among others. The
enthusiastic business manager uses a balance of these devices and continually
upgrades his knowledge.
